It's all about getting your name out to the public and your target market.

At a local level you certainly would have people writing and publishing books that would need your services. Press releases about projects you've completed, awards you may have won for your work, etc. are going to make them aware of your expertise.

Many times my press releases have been published in newspapers/magazines and then I have been contact for input on articles or articles have been written about my work. Such exposure has lead to project contracts, speaking engagements, requests to write articles for publications and more.

Good luck! - J.Jeff Fisher LogoMotiveshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10482311111316240290noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18472575.post-13703341704811700762007-05-06T05:29:00.000-07:002007-05-06T05:29:00.000-07:00I posted a reply on one of the HOW fora where you ...I posted a reply on one of the HOW fora where you posted the link to this article. And since I haven't hear, I thought I'd r again ... here, as I'm really curious about this.

I'm struck by the idea of press releases to local papers. I wonder if that's something that might be adapted by me as a book designer.

I can see where an author or a publisher might want to send out a press release that they've just had a book come out. But do you think there's anything to be gained by a background person--like a designer/layout artist--sending out such a notice? I mean, I guess it can't hurt the sale of the book, but is that anything likely to do the designer/layout artist any good, do you think?

Thanks.

_____________________________

Stephen Tiano, Book Designer & Page Composition Specialist
tel. & fax: 631/284/3842
cell: 631/764/2487
email: steve@tianodesign.com
iChat screen name: stephentiano@mac.comStephen Tianohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04498739383735758528noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18472575.post-30889021064283071512007-04-07T14:47:00.000-07:002007-04-07T14:47:00.000-07:00jeff fisher you're my hero:)great ideas!! yay, i a...jeff fisher you're my hero:)

great ideas!! yay, i am happy to be on your blog, too.Kristen https://www.blogger.com/profile/05814115452108698666noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18472575.post-1162473096728259062006-11-02T05:11:00.000-08:002006-11-02T05:11:00.000-08:00These are some great ideas.
